Voluntown School Readiness Council

The Voluntown School Readiness Council is notifying the community of the opening for local Request For Proposals (RFP) regarding the Connecticut School Readiness Program. The Connecticut School Readiness program offers an opportunity for preschool sites to receive funding for eligible programs. Programs and services must comply with all requirements outlined in the grant application (RFP) and pursuant of CT General Statutes (CGS) Sec 10-16o.-10-16U.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Voluntown Town Hall, 115 Main St. Voluntown, CT on the following:
Zoning Text Amendment 031319 proposed by Leanne Church and James Anderson to amend Section 9.5.2 Conditions of Approval and add Brew Pubs to Section 5.2 Special Exceptions within the Village District Regulations.
A copy of the above applications are on file and available for review in the Town Clerks Office located at 115 Main St. Voluntown, CT.

Notice is hereby given to all taxpayers of the Town of Voluntown that the second and final installment on Real Estate and Personal Property, including Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes on the Grand List of Octorber 1, 2017, are due and payable on January 1, 2019.

The second installments and Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes may be paid without penalty through February 4, 2019. The rate of interest is 1.5% per month from the due date of January 1st (18% per year) or a minimum of $2.00 per bill or installment. If paid in February, but after the 4th, interest is computed at 3%.

I will be in my office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m., as well as Saturday, February 2nd from 9 a.m. until noon for the collection of these taxes.

Payments may be made by mail (P.O. Box 96 ,Voluntown, CT), or in the office at 115 Main Street, Voluntown. If a receipt is required, please send a portion of the bill and enclose a self addressed stamped envelope.

The Voluntown Board of Selectmen have authorized the sale of a 1991 Elgin Street Sweeper. The Sweeper is being sold for the best offer in as-is condition for parts only. Please contact the Selectmen’s Office at 860-376-5880 if you have any questions. Sealed bids will be accepted by the Selectmen’s Office at until 3:00 p.m. on September 24, 2018. The Town of Voluntown reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

2018/2019 Winter Season

1. The Board of Selectmen is seeking sealed bids for snowplowing and sanding operations for winter maintenance of town roads in Voluntown. Trucks must have, at a minimum, a four-yard sander as well as current registration and insurance.

2. The Board of Selectmen is seeking sealed bids for screened sand for winter road maintenance in Voluntown. Sand must meet specifications of the State of Connecticut and will be delivered to the Town of Voluntown storage site located at 514 Brown Road, as requested by the Board of Selectmen.

3. The Board of Selectmen is seeking bids for snowplowing of approximately 1,000 feet of town owned dirt road with two turn arounds located on Denison Hill Rd. Contact First Selectman, Tracey Hanson at 860-376-5880 for more details.

Bids will be accepted at the Selectmen’s Office until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Bids will be opened at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m., September 25, 2018. The Town of Voluntown, if it is determined to be in the best interest of the Town, is not obligated to accept the low dollar bid price. The Town of Voluntown reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Bid packets will be available at the Voluntown Town Hall, Monday – Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Sealed bids for the Town of Voluntown Wylie School Road Bridge Culvert Repairs will be received at the Office of the Voluntown First Selectman, 115 Main Street, Voluntown, CT 06384 until 10:00 A.M., on August 6, 2018 prevailing time, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing the bidder’s name and bid name. The Contract consists of the removal and disposal of an existing guiderail, installing a new guiderail and minor repairs to an existing culvert wing-wall within the Town of Voluntown.

Bid documents are available digitally only and can be found on the Town of Voluntown website: Neither the Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bid Documents obtained from any other source.

Bid surety in the form of a certified check or bid bond in the amount of five percent 5% of this bid is required. The successful bidder shall also furnish a 100% Performance Bond and Payment Bond.

The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to award any item, group of items, or total bid, and to waive any informality in the bids received if it deems it to be in the best interest of the Town to do so.

No Bidder may withdraw their bid within 60 days after the actual date of bid opening thereof. Should there be reason why the contract cannot be awarded within the specific period, this time may be extended by mutual agreement between the Town and the designated, qualified low Bidder. The Town is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
