IT IS NO LONGER A 2 WAY STOP, BUT IS NOW A THREE WAY STOP SO DRIVERS CAN PREPARE SAFELY FOR THE ONE LANE BRIDGE. PLEASE PROCEED ACCORDINGLY.

The Town of Voluntown CT. has openings for Part-time Firefighter/EMT’s. Hours are Monday- Friday 0630-1630 hours. Minimum requirements are State of Connecticut, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operational level, CDL-B or Q-Endorsement, Emergency Medical Technician with ambulance transport experience preferred. At the August 24 Board of Selectmen’s meeting the BOS unanimously approved a resolution in support of the Second Amendment.
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of our nation; and
WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the Constitution adopted in 1791 states, “a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court found in Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966), that, “where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would abrogate them;” and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court in the District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), affirmed that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is not connected in any way to service in a militia; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court in United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939), stated that firearms that are part of ordinary military equipment with use that could contribute to the common defense are protected by the Second Amendment; and

The Board of Selectmen, at the June 8th BOS meeting, set the Mill Rate at 28.08. This is a DECREASE of 1.13 Mills.

The book return slot at the Voluntown Public Library is no longer being used as the Town Hall dropbox. We had a dropbox installed by the Town Hall front door (the door located on Main St.) that is to be used now.
