Seeking Volunteers

The Town of Voluntown has many positions open that are ready for volunteers!

If you are interested in being appointed and getting involved in our community, please fill out our online Board/Committee Application.

There are currently vacancies on several town boards and commissions. These are all volunteer positions. Interested parties must be residents of the Town of Voluntown and electors of the Town of Voluntown. Volunteers should be able to fulfill the duties of the board or commission, which include commitment to regularly scheduled meetings and willingness to serve on committees if applicable. Qualifications are not necessary.

Alternates can attend every meeting, but they are only voting members if they are appointed to fill the seat of a regular member who is absent.

The Voluntown Youth Service Bureau/ Local Prevention Council Advisory Board is seeking new members. Community members who are interested can contact the Board Secretary, Adam Burrows, at The Superintendent's Office, p. 860-376-9167. Interested candidates to the positions given, please submit a letter of interest with qualifications if any to the Email Selectmen's Office, drop it in the town hall drop box, or mail it to P.O. Box 96, Voluntown CT, 06384.

Committees

To be a member of a committee, a person does not have to live in Voluntown. For some committees, having a specific talent, job background, or knowledge is helpful but not always necessary. The following committees are seeking members. Committee meetings are open to the public.

Forge Hill Bridge Committee

This committee meets to oversee the Forge Hill Bridge replacement project. Meetings are as needed. Members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Please email Julie for more information.

Community Water Study Committee

The Community Water Study Committee will oversee the Community Investment Fund (CIF) Community Water Planning Project. This project includes, among other things, the evaluation of potential water systems, preliminary design, and public outreach/education. The community water systems are being explored for the Bennett Road, Bennett Circle, Bennett Extension, and downtown areas of Voluntown.

Other Volunteers

Farmers' Market

The Economic Development Commission is seeking volunteers to help with the Voluntown Farmers' Market. Volunteers are needed to help set up and take down tents and equipment for the market, which is held on Sundays in July and October, 10-1 pm. Help is also needed in other areas such as planning special events, social media promotion, and more. Please email EDC for more information. Visit the market Facebook page and EDC website.
