Public Service Note

The Emergency Services Canine Unit was in Voluntown yesterday late afternoon/evening training in the state forest. It was convenient to have them in town, as they responded to a call on Shetucket Tpk of a suspicious man on private property. This is why there were more officers than usual responding to an incident. This man was not part of the training. The training in the forest was taking place on state land, in a different part of town. Unfortunately, due to timing of the call, the man was not caught. The Lt. of troop E (who is not affiliated with the Emergency Services Canine Unit, as they are a separate division) wants me to remind residents to call and report any suspicious activity immediately, as timing is essential.
